A KARBON piece can be acquired as it exists in the studio or commissioned for you, from a precise brief. This page details the process, timelines, indicative price ranges, and guarantees that come with each piece.
The five-step process
Studio visit (Paris, by appointment) or video call. We discuss the installation location, desired atmosphere, dimensions, visual references, budget. For an Artronic piece, we also discuss the type of interaction (presence, touch, ambient sound) and usage. No commitment at this stage — it's a conversation.
Nominal quote based on the brief: description, dimensions, technique, optional Artronic firmware, delivery timeline, total price including VAT. If validated, a transfer-of-ownership contract is signed and 30% of the total is paid to reserve the studio slot. The deposit is non-refundable once fabrication begins (step 4).
Composition sketch + colour palette + (for Artronic) technical mock-up with sensor and LED in simulation. Presentation at the studio or online. Adjustments are possible at this stage — now, not after the piece is fabricated. Once the mock-up is approved in writing, fabrication begins. This step is included in the quote.
Production at the KARBON studio. A weekly progress update is shared (photo + comment) — not a livestream, but enough to see the piece taking shape. For Artronic pieces, firmware is compiled then tested for 48h before final assembly.
Delivery packaged by specialised art transporter (France: 4-7 days · Europe: 7-14 days · Non-EU: quoted separately). For Artronic pieces, a printed installation card + USB stick containing the firmware source code, SHA-256 hash, and OTA update procedure is also sent. A 30-min video call is scheduled to accompany activation if you wish.
Indicative price ranges
Prices vary by dimensions, technical complexity, and personalisation level. Nominal quote is free and non-binding.
To send precise ranges we need at minimum: desired dimensions, artwork type (Pop / Street / Manga / Artronic), destination (private interior, lobby, public space). Five lines in an email are enough to trigger the quote.
What's included with every commission
Frequently asked questions
Can I commission a piece identical to an existing one? No — every KARBON piece is unique. If an existing work inspired you, we can draw on it for the brief, but the result will be a new piece with its own numbering and certificate. This is a non-negotiable principle of the Artronic movement and the studio's practice.
Are there limited editions? Yes, on certain artwork families (notably Pop Art stencils). Limited editions are numbered out of N (e.g. 1/250), each copy with its own firmware hash if the piece is Artronic. Limited edition price is lower than a unique commissioned piece.
Payment methods accepted? Bank transfer (preferred, IBAN on quote), credit card via Stripe secure payment, or instalment payment for pieces > €5,000 (case-by-case). No cryptocurrency, no NFT — consistent with the manifesto.
What if I'm not in France? The studio ships throughout the European Union, United States, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Japan. For other destinations, custom quote. Artronic pieces are powered at 5V via an adapter provided with local voltage (110V US / 230V EU).
Can I resell the piece? Yes, freely. The certificate of authenticity transfers with the piece. The KARBON studio can, if you wish, connect you with a buyer or a partner gallery — without commission beyond administrative fees.
A KARBON commission is not a transaction. It is the beginning of a relationship between an artwork, a place, and the person who makes them dialogue.
