Sensor under the canvas, LED behind the icon, microcontroller that knows a gaze is approaching. KARBON builds organisms — pop, urban, technological. Three strata, never blended.
Most contemporary art still works the way fresco worked in the Quattrocento: the viewer arrives, looks, leaves. The painting never knew you were in the room.
KARBON breaks that contract. Every Artronic piece carries an embedded ESP32 microcontroller, a presence sensor and an addressable LED strip. When the room is empty, the work sleeps. When you step in, it wakes — slowly, at the rhythm of an old film-camera shutter, 1/250th of a second.
Three strata, never blended: Pop · Street · Artronic.
Trained as an industrial electronics technician (French Bac Pro MAVELEC, 1993 — soldering, wiring schematics, terminal blocks). Then, from 1998 to 2005, a working paparazzo for Ici Paris — France’s flagship celebrity weekly, the French analogue of People or OK!. Seven years of stakeouts, hotel exits, and the mechanical discipline of catching a face at 1/250th of a second.
He left the press in 2005, opened his studio in 2020, and welded the two trades together: the paparazzo’s eye for celebrity image, and the technician’s hands. The result is Artronic — Pop Art that answers back.
Currently unrepresented on an exclusive basis. Direct enquiries welcomed from press, galleries, fairs and collectors.
“A painting that needs to be looked at to exist isn’t a painting. It’s a closed door.”
Not a screen. Not connected to the internet — no data leaves the work. Not an NFT. Not a fragile installation.
